Back in February I entered the 2018 Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular with two artworks – 'Cruisin' through Cleveland' and 'Gerdie the Giant Squid.' The awards are Queensland’s largest and most prestigious annual art exhibition, which has raised almost $2 million for Brisbane Rotary community projects and local charity partners.
The theme for this year is Art Giving Hope and our 2018 beneficiary charity is AEIOU Foundation for children with autism. The funds raised at the 2018 Rotary Art Spectacular will fund a purpose-built, outdoor play area for the children at the new AEIOU Logan centre, opening in July 2018. This centre is the first of its kind, forming part of the innovative Meadowbrook Health and Knowledge precinct in Logan. .
Whilst I came away empty handed, it was an honor to be shortlisted and hang with other extremely talented artists - plus there is always next year!
