Overlooking the Dam in Drought
I could say I was inspired by an epic road trip into the country, but no, thanks to COVID I take my inspiration from items closer to home... this painting was inspired by the scenery from 'Farmer Wants a Wife' 😂.
One of the farmers lives on a property that is affected by drought. On one episode, he took his 'date' on a drive through the dusty plains to a watery oasis in the middle of nowhere. It was amazing as they filmed the area from above – this beautiful tranquil water hole surround by lush vegetation and then a bit further out, the drought-affected lands could be seen.
The inspiration behind this painting came from that view. The bright blue sky blends down into the drought-affected lands with the flowing waterhole in the middle.
The sky is made up of several aquas, australian sky blue, electric cobalt blue with lashings of lilac and pastel aqua. The dusty drylands are full of rich australian sienna with gold, multiple purples, rusty reds, mulberry and light pinks. The water hole is made up of clear aqua's, australian yellow-green and various other greens. However, that isn't all the colours I have used... please take the time to look at the closeups to see all the details!
This artwork has been painted to view vertically but you can easily hang it horizontally. It would suit someone who loves colour but perhaps not someone who wants an 'over the top' colour scheme. I am sure it would look amazing as a feature artwork in your home or office.
